New Development Laptop

Hi there!
I'm a self-taught software engineer in training. I am actively using GitHub to build open-source projects, learn new languages and master software development tools. Right now I am practicing my craft on a second-hand, older laptop. While it gets the job done for basic scripts, it struggles with heavier modern development workflows, compiling code quickly, and running virtualization tools. I'm using Liberapay to fund a brand-new development laptop. Upgrading my hardware will directly allow me to take on more complex programming projects, test larger codebases, and contribute more effectively to the open-source community.
