I work at a bird store, and the store's whole focus is bird knowledge — helping owners actually understand their birds, not just sell them supplies. Working there, I kept running into the same problem: there's no good health tracker built specifically for pet birds. Weight is one of the most important early warning signs of illness in birds, precisely because birds are prey animals and instinctively hide symptoms until something is seriously wrong. Most owners were tracking it, if at all, in a spreadsheet — which works, but it's not built for it, and it's easy to fall behind on.

That's what I set out to fix: a real app for tracking a bird's weight over time, not a spreadsheet with extra steps.

Where it's grown since

Weight tracking was the starting point, and the app has grown from there — bird profiles, a photo-based dropping log with quick symptom tags (droppings are one of the first things an avian vet asks about, and a photo says more than a description), and a place to keep vet/groomer/pet store contacts organized. Diet and molt tracking are next.

Where it's going

Two things I'm actively working toward: a way to export a bird's full profile as a PDF that an owner can hand straight to their vet, and getting real feedback from real bird owners on what they actually need this app to do. This is being built with the bird-owning community, not just for it — if you use it and something's missing, I want to hear about it.

Why I'm asking for support

Right now Bird Health is free and open for testing (a web app today, with native iOS/Android apps in progress) while I work out what it needs to be with actual users. Donations go directly toward the hosting and infrastructure costs of running that testing phase, since the app isn't generating any revenue of its own yet. If it's useful to you, even a small monthly tip helps keep it moving forward.
