Tangle — sovereign tools for Texas democracy
説明
Tangle is an independent, one-person build out of San Antonio, Texas: a suite of civic technology that communities own instead of rent.
The premise is simple. The tools that shape public life — media monitoring, voter information, AI assistants, organizing databases — are owned by corporations and rented back to the public, with the data flowing one way. Tangle inverts that. Everything runs on our own small machines (Mac minis on a shelf, not a cloud region), and every tool has to pass the cord-pull test: unplug the internet and it still works. If we can build it this way, a community can fork it and run their own.
What exists today:
- ARAI — a sovereign AI assistant, fine-tuned and served entirely on our own hardware. No API calls to a tech giant; conversations never leave machines we control.
- Sentinel — a livestream capture and clipping engine for accountability journalism: record public meetings and streams, transcribe locally, clip the moments that matter — with provenance attached.
- Moment — a Texas civic dashboard that listens to what communities are actually saying and surfaces it with context instead of outrage.
- Corporate Watch — automatic ingestion of Fortune-500 SEC filings, read through a justice lens: who gains, who pays.
Where it's going — the hard dat
- November 2026 — a voter-protecy suite, live in the field forTexas.
- December 2026 — Amparo, a conour rights under Texas consumerlaw, generate the letters, reach the right agency.
All of it is built nonpartisan and grounded: real data with provenance, a "—" instead of a made-up number, "not legal advifirst where it matters most.
What your support funds, concrede (~$100/month), the domains and the small public edge server, and the electricity and hours that keep these tools free for the communities they're built fo ads, and no data sales — that's the point. A little recurring support is what keeps it sovereign.
